The association tracks the market through research studies like DIMA Data and probes the experiences of successful practitioners with special reports like Digital Imaging: Users, Uses and the Technology and Entrepreneurial Digital Imaging Services: Best Practices in an Emerging Industry.

DIMA’s goal is be the main information source in the ever-expanding digital imaging market. DIMA helps its members keep up-to-date on the technology front. The association offers expertise in the fundamentals of running a successful business—from basics like finance and personnel, to the costing of services and wage & salary considerations. Members also receive a monthly newsletter, DIMA Digest, informing them on the latest industry developments.

JACKSON, Mich. – The photo imaging industry’s annual showcase of technology and innovation kicks off March 3, 2009, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, South Hall, Las Vegas, Nev. The PMA 09 International Convention and Trade Show, with an expected count of approximately 500 exhibitors, features the major brands in consumer digital photography, including Canon, Nikon, HP, Kodak, Fujifilm, Olympus, Panasonic, JVC, Sony, Samsung, and many more. (For a complete list of exhibitors, see attachment).

New products are highlighted at several points during the show. Kicking off the show is the imaging industry’s premier media event, PMA 09 Sneak Peek, 12:00 noon – 3:00 p.m., at the Renaissance Las Vegas Hotel. Sneak Peek provides the photo imaging trade/consumer press the chance to meet with PMA exhibitors to discuss the newest products, cutting-edge technologies, and services in tabletop presentations.

Also surrounding PMA 09 will be the DIMA Innovative Digital Product Awards, announced at Sneak Peek, featuring new products judged by the photo industry’s best editors.

There will be the DIMA Photo Book Showcase, now in its second year, which displays the widest variety of photo book creation software, systems, and output options. It will present all aspects of photo book production for attendees of PMA 09 to evaluate side-by-side

The DIMA Printer Shoot-Out will have its panel of judges vote on entries prior to PMA 09, and winners will be announced at a press conference on March 3, prior to the opening of PMA 09. The qualitative criteria used in judging the prints is based on neutral gray balance reproduction, saturation, shadow detail and quality, overall tonality and detail, highlights and spectacular highlights, flesh tones, hue shift, and text.

The DIMA Photo Kiosk Shoot-Out allows industry members to evaluate photo kiosk systems, side-by-side, on a level playing field. This event allows businesses looking to deploy photo kiosks into the marketplace an opportunity to “test drive” various systems in various configurations.
